SHIVA EFFECTS LOOP CABLE CONSTRUCTION

Below are two diagrams that show how to construct your own SHIVA effects loop cable. First decide if you need to make a cable for Rack effects or floor Pedal effects, each cable is slightly different in design. Then decide how long you need to make it: 2 feet, 5 feet, 10 feet? Either cable involves modifying only ONE end of a standard shielded guitar cable. When finished, make sure the modified cable end is plugged into the effects unit INPUT. Also, we use heat-shrink tubing to insulate the resistors from touching the different terminating points.

1. After deciding the cable length, remove the 1/4" phono jack. Clip the outer shielded ground conductor it will not be used, make sure it can't come in contact with anything, we use heat-shrink tube to prevent this.

2. Solder a 100K, 1/4 watt resistor in series between the positive center conductor on the jack and center conductor of the cable, keep the leads short. Next resistor is either a 100K, 1/4 watt, if making the Rack level cable or 4.7K, 1/4 watt, if making the Pedal level cable. See diagram again to be confirm your cable choice. Solder this resistor between the jacks center positive conductor and the jacks grounded conductor.

3. We use heat-shrink tubing to insulate contact points and to reinforce solder joints.
